Ingredients
Scale
Spices
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice
Main Ingredients
- 8 cups (2 quarts) apple cider
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1 large orange sliced
Instructions
- Add and Sweeten: Pour the apple cider into the crockpot. Add the packed light brown sugar and stir thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved into the cider.
- Add Spices and Orange: Place the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice, and sliced orange into the crockpot with the cider and sugar mixture.
- Cook Slowly: Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend and develop. You may keep it on low to keep the cider warm until ready to serve.
- Strain and Serve: When ready to serve, use a small strainer to remove and discard the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and orange slices from the cider. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a stronger spice flavor, increase the cinnamon sticks to 3.
- If you prefer a less sweet cider, reduce the brown sugar to 1/4 cup.
- You can add a splash of brandy or bourbon for an adult version.
- Leftover cider can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
- Use fresh apple cider rather than apple juice for the best flavor.
