- ½ cup water (from the total water quantity)
Drink
- 4 cups cold water (remaining from total water quantity)
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
- Ice, as needed
- Fresh peach slices, for garnish
- Fresh lemon slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Peaches: Wash 3-4 peaches and remove the pits. You can remove the skin if desired, but leaving it on adds to the syrup’s texture and flavor. Dice the peaches into small pieces.
- Cook Peach Syrup: In a saucepan, combine diced peaches, 1 cup granulated sugar, and ½ cup water. Cook over medium heat until the peaches are soft, the sugar dissolves completely, and the mixture is syrupy and bubbling, about 8 minutes.
- Blend Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor. Cover the lid and wrap with a clean kitchen towel to prevent splashes. Blend the mixture until smooth. Optionally, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve using a spoon or spatula to remove solids. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature or chill it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Mix Lemonade: When ready to serve, combine the peach syrup, 1 cup fresh lemon juice, 4 cups of cold water, and ice in a large pitcher. Stir well to blend all ingredients.
- Garnish and Serve: Add fresh peach slices and lemon slices to the pitcher for garnish. Serve chilled over ice for a refreshing drink.
Notes
- To make the lemonade less sweet, reduce the sugar in the peach syrup.
- You can peel the peaches before dicing if a smoother syrup texture is preferred.
- Straining the syrup is optional but results in a clearer lemonade.
- Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor, avoiding bottled lemon juice which can taste processed.
- This lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
