Description

This homemade guacamole recipe features ripe Hass avocados blended with fresh ingredients like red onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, and lime juice. It’s a quick and flavorful dip perfect for parties, snacks, or as a topping for Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 4 ripe Hass avocados, seeded and scooped from peel (about 26 oz before peeled and cored)
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped red onion, rinsed under water in mesh strainer and drained
  • 1 large Roma tomato, seeded then diced
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 – 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Add avocados to a larger bowl and cut into avocados with a pastry cutter or fork until you’ve reached the texture you like.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add red onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Mix and Serve: Toss mixture thoroughly then serve immediately for best results.

Notes

  • Choose ripe Hass avocados for a creamy texture and rich flavor.
  • Rinsing and draining the red onion reduces its sharpness for a milder taste.
  • The amount of jalapeño can be adjusted based on desired spiciness.
  • Serve guacamole immediately to prevent browning; if storing, cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed against the surface.
  • Fresh lime juice not only adds flavor but helps to slow oxidation and browning of the avocado.
